After months of wracking his brains and consulting his ministers and all experts in the criminal sociological and psychological field the prime miniter has finally come up with a revolutionary idea for ending crime in Jamaica.


He`s telling criminals to <span style="font-size: 14pt"> &quot;stop it&quot;</span> !




Prime Minister Bruce Golding last night told persons involved in criminal behaviour that they are embarrassing Jamaica and its athletes in their moment of glory, and urged the country to use the athletes' performance at the Beijing Olympics to unite and set new standards for ourselves and our community in how we treat each other.

wen u tink of it , it is di ongle solution really....people commit crimes unda di best of circumstances....dat is why u ha the Enrons of the world....i.e. highly paid people still a tief

so it goes widdout saying dat the ongle way crime will eva disappear is if individuals, alll how many billions upon di earth , juss say no an do no crime

will it happen, hell no,but really an truly, it is up to di individual

wat i am noticing and it is a frightening RE occurence dung a yaad, is the coupling of rape WID crimes


more an more, i am reading in reports dat if a couple is held up , di female is being raped infront of har male companion

is like dem a bring dat warzone mentality bak again

This is very reminiscent of Nancy Reagan's campaign against drug use back in the 80's in which bunches of people went around wearing &quot;Just Say No&quot; buttons.

Which is how the United States beat the drug problem.

Bruce and the 21st Century JLP is a joke, I was just going to write something about them this morning no0w seeing this just confirm all my suspicions that what Eddie Blinds did seh bout him was correct.... he is not of Leadership material...he does not even possess a brilliant mind...but in an ocean fulla tiki-tiki the sprat is king!

the US refuses to pull its head out of the sand an tackle the drug issue where they should....follow the money WITHIN the US...dem seh dem is capitalist yet ignore di demand side of the trade...demand is not juss di junkies...it is also the one(s) who r the suppliers' counterpart here in the States...the bigggggwigs....

is like di illegal workers situation....blame di workers but who creating di situation as in employing dem get ignored....India to blame fi having di factories but the US citizen who chose personal greed ovah his countries GNP is ignored

From a long time now Bruce is showing up like Joshua.

He wants to be loved by all. No hardcore decisions by him just yet. Not wanting to hurt nuhbaddy up front.

Well Jamaica sure don't need Mugabe and with the police still kicking off lawyers doors in Jamaica that is where we are headed. Bruce maybe is no fool but he his not a good leader so far!

There was merit in just say no program... It had some value.. There was an analogue in the UK 20 odd years ago it was common for drink driving as a macho stance for men.. There was a concerted campaign to &quot;say no to drink drive&quot; the slogan come out evry year at Chritsmas. And now it is simply not socially acceptable to drink drive. Now you simply dont drink drive.. if you are caught over the limit driving it is not acceptable behaviour there is no sympathy...

Looking around London I am surprised at how few smokers there are now.. there was an banning of smoking in offices, then in public buildings (I have no moral objection to smoking or any drug.) I once worked out that on a cigarette packake you had to smoke 600 cigarettes to produce the polution of 1 liter of diesel... Again there is an anti smoking bias.. I would wager that the chemical by products are about the same in terms of enviromental harm...

The same can be done for crack and or al drugs...legalise tehm and make them as socially un acceptable as smoking of drink driving...

All anti smoking and drink driving have an element of just say no...

So I beleive Bruces apeal has its place and has merit... The electric shock that went through the entire Jamaica is palitable.. For the first time ever have I heard talking heads acknowleging the stone that the builders refuse is our flag bearers.There are simply no quick soutions to Jamaican crime.. it requires local solutions.. Each tatic has its place... in a holistic aproach... Expecting Bruces apeal to work by itself is not realistic.. But it was a gesture.. Much like Garvey was gesture poltics.. We cannott discount the importance of Garvey poltics nor should we not dismiss the gesture of the appeal of our gold...

Tuffy, you are right about that! but when we stop to think about it, <span style="font-weight: bold">he's the only leader we have at this moment and we have to help him along the way.</span> The fact that he is no fool is encouraging, but he has to realize that by telling the Criminals to STOP wont cut it and putting the blame on them will only get them more furious to commit more crimes... First, he has to level with the people about the past WRONGS of both political parties and resolve to break the pattern of &quot;political gang wars&quot; by taking the first step which calls for guts, big time. ~ He needs to put some steel in his spine...

What`s the score with scandals of the past admin such as trafigura, symptax, scandals whitehouse, rollins deal and finsac?

Without getting to the root of these, it will be bound to be repeated. Is it that the JLP want to keep the channels of selfcentered opportunity for party loyalists open at the expense of Jamaicans?
